Machinist

Job Description Summary

This role is for a Machinist. Duties may change according to the assigned mentor’s instructions. The listed duties provide essential skills for a technical Machinist and potential mechanical lead in the shop.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret part drawings and process prints.
• Perform work efficiently with no supervision.
• Perform run‑out checks for individual parts and rotating parts such as generators and turbine rotors.
• Machine stationary and rotating parts including bearings, oil seals, shafts.
• Perform reaming, drilling, tapping, burnishing, skim cut, patch ring, aluminum/copper sleeves, threading, and other machining operations.
• Operate lathe machines and tip grinding machines without supervision.
• Use AcuScan machine for run‑out measurements.
• Operate VBM machines.
• Train and coach others.
• Work closely with supervisors and engineers to ensure efficient equipment operation.
• Use measurement instruments and follow 5S Lean Principles and safety rules and regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Diploma or technical college degree or equivalent in mechanical, electrical or related discipline.
• Knowledge in CNC machining, finishing, or related industrial manufacturing operations.

Desired Characteristics

• 5 to 10 years of total experience, with at least 3 years as a machinist.
• Ability to read and communicate in English.
• Curiosity and desire to learn and expand skill set.
• Adaptable and open to change.
• Will work change shifts, including day and night shifts.
