Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized **Chief Steward** to lead and oversee the stewarding operations at our hospitality establishment in Madinah, Saudi Arabia. Reporting to senior management, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all kitchen equipment, utensils, and service ware are meticulously maintained, cleaned, and available to support seamless dining operations across all Food & Beverage outlets. - Lead and supervise the stewarding team, fostering a collaborative work environment that motivates staff to achieve operational excellence and maintain the highest standards of performance
- Oversee day-to-day stewarding operations across all restaurants, bars, banquet facilities, and kitchens, ensuring consistent adherence to cleaning procedures, hygiene standards, and operational protocols in compliance with hotel policies and food safety regulations
- Develop and implement strategic cleaning programs and quality assurance procedures to maintain exceptional cleanliness standards in kitchen and back-of-house areas, with a focus on continuous improvement and efficiency
- Manage inventory levels of cleaning supplies, equipment, and chemicals, analyze usage patterns to optimize costs, and maintain vendor and supplier relationships to ensure cost-effectiveness and reliability
- Coordinate the scheduling and allocation of stewarding staff across multiple outlets and shifts, ensuring adequate coverage during daily service and large-scale events
- Train, mentor, and develop team members on proper cleaning procedures, safety practices, equipment handling, and food safety protocols, providing constructive feedback and performance reviews
- Monitor and enforce compliance with health, safety, environmental regulations, and proper waste management practices, conducting regular audits and implementing corrective actions as needed
- Analyze operational data and key performance indicators to identify trends, implement process improvements, and drive efficiency gains across the stewarding department
Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of progressive stewarding operations experience in large-scale Food & Beverage environments, preferably in a resort, hotel, or high-volume hospitality setting
- Proven leadership experience supervising and managing stewarding teams of varying sizes, with demonstrated ability to motivate, develop, and retain staff
- Comprehensive knowledge of kitchen equipment, chinaware, glassware, and utensil maintenance and care standards
- Strong expertise in cleaning procedures, sanitation protocols, and food safety regulations (HACCP, ISO standards, or equivalent)
- Solid understanding of health, safety, and environmental compliance requirements specific to hospitality operations
- Excellent organisational and time management skills with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency in inventory management, cost control, and budget analysis
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; additional languages are a plus
- Certification in Food Safety or Hospitality Management is preferred
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and during special events
- Physical capability to perform duties in a fast-paced kitchen environment, including standing for extended periods and lifting moderate weights
