Project Planner (FM)

Seven years of work experience (or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience)

Architectural license or equivalent required.

Skills

Previous experience in architecture, campus planning and project management or a related field required.

Experience managing multiple and diverse capital projects, including master planning and facilities design.

Detail-oriented but strong strategic thinking skills.

Ability to work on a team as well as individually.

Experience with industry software standards for planning, production, facilitating, and reporting work.

Good communication skills: written, graphic, and verbal.

Role

Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of the planning and design phases of specific projects ensuring consistency with KAUST strategy, commitments and goals.

Serving as Primary Point of Contact, acting as the liaison for FM to University, Research, and Community Stakeholders. The Project Planner liaises with the most senior levels of KAUST to understand vision and scope of projects as well as to report on status and project issues. Develops executive project reports for senior leadership.

Serving as Primary Point of Contact managing 3rd party consultant firms and contractors on behalf of KAUST.

Developing and articulating project strategy, objectives and impacts on or by other projects.

Ensuring the timely delivery of projects while maintaining excellent customer relations, meeting capital budget goals, and maintaining KAUST’s quality and aesthetic standards.

Developing feasibility and programming studies, either directly or by managing external consultants.

Defines project milestones and prepares project schedules.

Developing and implementing policies, processes, and templates that support best practices for project planning and design (Project Budgets, Schedules, Governance Charts, Feasibility Studies, Reports, and Executive Communications.)

Overseeing the preparation of technical reports and providing recommendations to resolve project issues. Analyzing claims and associated impacts on project delivery and budget

Develops detailed project budgets by identifying comprehensive project scope and design through collaboration with external cost estimators or collaborating with internal cost estimating team members.

In collaboration with Procurement, leading the selection of architects, engineers, and contractors, evaluating proposals and developing opportunities for value management.

Guiding capital projects through the capital development process for Budget Committee approval, including preparation of the KAUST Tendering Committee (KTC) documents as required.

Partnering with the Project Manager Leads and project team in addressing and evaluating change orders/variations, requests for information, or other design modification requests.

Working with in-house staff and consultants to ensure all guidelines, standards, and sustainable practices are incorporated on all projects.

Leading the design phase of projects and supporting best practice design decision-making during the construction phase by serving as the lead to manage other PDEC, FM, and KAUST colleagues during the project.

Collaborating with Procurement and Legal in the development of contracts and tender/bid documents.

Working with in-house staff and consultants to ensure all guidelines, standards, and sustainable practices are incorporated on all projects.

Participating in efforts of the Design Review Committee (DRC)
