Our company is looking for a Communications Officer to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Gather and organize photos, b-roll, interviews, and quotes;
  • Support the development of videos and other media of TWB’s work;
  • Write content, including blogs and social media posts;
  • Support and align with the strategic marketing and communications plans and policies developed by the comms team;
  • Communicate and coordinate with in-country media contacts when necessary, in collaboration with the Senior Communications Officer;
  • Support development and distribution of program specific content;
  • Assist with event communication needs;
  • Oversee and implement social media and email marketing strategies and lists;
  • Optimize photo storage and metadata; manage photo consent process;
  • Support the development of strong relationships with in-country partners, media contacts, and other stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Communication and/or Marketing or any other relevant degree (NQF 7);
  • Must have people-skills, service-orientation and, pleasant disposition;
  • With at least 2 years of experience in any of these fields: communications, journalism, copywriting, web content writing, social media management;
  • Resourceful, able to self direct;
  • Demonstrated interest in language issues;
  • Bachelors degree in Communication, Journalism, Creative Writing or any related field;
  • Experience in using the Content Management System (CMS) of a company website an advantage;
  • 2 – 3 years’ experience in communications, journalism, and/or media relations;
  • Excellent writing and editing skills in English and French. Writing samples will be required;
  • Experience in crafting communication plans;
  • Demonstrable understanding of crisis response, humanitarian, human rights, and/or international development;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Web- and tech-savvy; ability to use new media technologies for effective communication and PR;
  • Willingness to explore different outreach mechanisms, electronic and in person;
  • Demonstrated experience drafting and producing quality content for online communications and marketing.
