Heat Exchanger Engineer

Overview

Saudi Aramco is seeking a Heat Exchanger Engineer to join the Heat Transfer Group of the Equipment Consulting Services Department (CSD). ECSD provides specialized engineering consultations and introduces viable technologies while maintaining quality standards. The Heat Exchanger Engineer’s primary role is to provide operation and project support, technical consultations, and maintain standards on issues related to different types of heat exchangers.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the company’s heat exchanger (Shell and tubes HEX, Air Coolers, double pipes, plate and frame, welded plate, BAHE, etc.) engineer when collaborating with other Saudi Aramco departments.
• Troubleshoot field problems related to the thermal and mechanical performance of heat exchangers.
• Conduct life assessment and fitness‑for‑service studies to extend exchanger life and optimize Circular Economy concepts.
• Perform thermal, hydraulic, and mechanical evaluations of new and existing exchangers.
• Design, evaluate performance, monitor, and troubleshoot heat exchangers (Shell and tubes HEX, Fin Fan Cooler, double pipes, plate and frame, welded plate, BAHE, etc.).
• Evaluate manufacturer technical capabilities and assess manufacturing deviations against company specifications.
• Develop and maintain Saudi Aramco’s engineering standards and design best practices to enhance profitability, safety, and productivity.
• Participate in international committees such as API and ASME to influence heat exchanger engineering requirements.
• Identify and introduce best practices and emerging technologies related to heat exchangers worldwide.
• Implement energy efficiency improvements and related software solutions.
• Develop and deliver classroom and practical heat exchanger training for operators and engineers.
• Conceptualize major technical studies or projects for less senior engineers.
• Promote a learning environment, encouraging self‑development to maintain expert status in specialized technical and general engineering fields.
• Deliver technical presentations and write papers for refereed engineering journals.
• Actively participate in technical societies and specialized committees.
• Mentor and develop young Saudi engineers into specialists.
• Serve as a technical advisor and provide timely operational support to Saudi Aramco organizations.
• Demonstrate excellent technical writing and presentation skills.
• Support research that enhances group performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Fundamental Engineer (F.E.) license or equivalent.
• 20 years of professional experience as a heat exchanger engineer.
• Experience with international standards related to heat exchangers such as TEMA, ASME, API, ALPEMA.
• Experience in fabrication and installation of heat exchangers.
• Proficiency with heat exchanger thermal software and design tools such as HTRI.
• Proficiency with heat exchanger mechanical software and design tools such as PVElite.
