Summary

Responsible for diagnosing and treating conditions related to the ear, nose, throat, head, and neck. ENT consultants may also treat children and adults , and often work in both clinic and surgical settings .

Education / Qualification Required:

1. Basic medical degree from recognized institution
2. Post-qualification certification
   • Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
     • USA: The American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (ABOHNS)
     • Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate (FRCPC – ENT)
     • UK and Ireland: CCT/CCST Specialist Register – ENT
     • Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College – ENT (FRACP)
     • Western Europe: Equivalent certification to the above

Experience Post-Qualifications:

• Minimum of two (2) years experience in a tertiary care center in ENT Surgery is a MUST
• Minimum Three (3) years after board / equivalence certification in USA, Canada, Ireland, UK, Australia, New Zealand and France (DES).
• Minimum Five (5) years after board / equivalence certification in Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Austria, Netherlands, Greece and France (DIS).

License:

• Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.
• Current BLS/ACLS Certificate

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Governed by the responsibilities outlined in the Medical Staff Bylaws.
• Provide high quality medical care to patients in otolaryngology, Head & Neck as inpatient and outpatient and operative surgery.
• Operate in the OR within approved privileges.
• Be physically present in the OR to assess and supervise assistants when assistants do not have approved privileges to carry out procedures under the surgeon’s category of Solo in the privilege form.
• Be available during normal working hours and be reachable when in town.
• Perform administrative duties as assigned and other duties as needed.
• Provide consultative service as requested.
• Participate in the department’s educational activities, training programs and division meetings; participate in research activities.
• Share on-call schedule for the Division of ENT and communication sciences as needed.
• Elicit and record patient medical history.
• Examine affected organs and determine the nature and extent of disorder.
• Prescribe and administer medications, or perform surgery.
• Perform tests to determine extent of hearing loss or speech loss due to disease or injury.
• Follow all hospital policies and procedures.
• Submit approved TRA by the Section Head to block clinic or provide approved coverage by completing the clinic blocking form through the proper chain of command, and obtain final TRA approval from the Chairman before going on leave.
• Meet CME requirements of Saudi specialization.
• Maintain the spirit of teamwork in the Division of ENT.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
